We closed a little off schedule yesterday – due to snow. It came down fast and hard around noon yesterday. Here in Clayton NC, this is NOT what we normally expect out of our winter. This year, we’ve had 3 rounds of snow in just the last 3 weeks?? See yesterday’s story on WRAL. Unusual for us in this area.
We don’t want anyone coming out looking for their favorite cheesecake at Sherry’s until the roads are safe, and truthfully, we’re not real keen on running down the icy roads at this point either. We suspect we’ll have some modified hours on Thursday Feb 13, 2014 at least due to the ongoing snow and icy conditions. Please call us at 919.270.0513 before you come out on Thursday to make sure we’re open.
We SURE hope the roads get cleared for Valentine’s Day! What better day to share a sweet treat like one of our signature cheesecakes (maybe the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake??) with the one you love than on Valentine’s Day?
We are flexible though, so in that vein, when life gives you snow (and you can’t get any cheesecake) – SNOW CREAM!
Snow Cream
Everyone in the South has their own variation of it and it’s often a family tradition how it’s made. It’s simple and puts some fun in being cooped up watching the snow fall for a lot of families. A little milk, cream or condensed milk, maybe some sugar or splenda, a little vanilla or some other flavor and you’ve got snow cream.
Here is a GREAT recipe along with directions and pictures from the folks over at GiveMeSomeOven.com! Now if we could just figure out how to get THIS into a cheesecake…
Stay safe, stay warm – and enjoy some snow cream! We’ll be here when the snow and ice clears up!
PS. If you have a favorite snow cream recipe, share it here! We’d love to see it 🙂
